If you’re converting to Judaism, an anti-Semitic attack can do two very different and opposite things.
It can scare you, pushing you away from the community, making you question everything.
And it can pull you closer, make you feel more connected to the community than ever.
Both reactions are real and neither is wrong, or means that you’re failing.
Judaism has survived because people kept choosing it even when it was hard.
This tension has been part of Jewish life for thousands of years, including the story behind Chanukah.
And each convert goes through it during the process. It’s normal and you’re in good company.
