What to Pray When You Feel Lost

What do you pray for when you feel stuck?

A lot of people freeze at that moment. They feel like they should know exactly what to say, exactly what they want, or exactly where their life is going before they turn to prayer. When none of that feels clear, it can make davening feel intimidating or impossible.

But Jewish prayer isn’t about presenting a perfectly formed plan to G-d. It’s about showing up honestly.

If you’re overthinking everything right now – your decisions, your path, your next step – you don’t need to ask for the whole roadmap. In this short video, I share three simple directions for prayer when you feel lost.

Judaism has always made room for uncertainty. Even the name “Israel” means “one who wrestles with G-d.” That means doubt, questions, and struggle are not signs of failure. They’re part of the relationship.

Sometimes the most honest prayer is simply asking for help to keep moving forward.

If you’re overthinking everything and not sure what to pray for, start here.

Ask for clarity for the next step,  not the whole plan. You don’t need a five-year roadmap.

Ask for enough clarity for one honest next step.

Judaism is built on walking forward gradually, not seeing everything at once.

A simple ask, “help me see what’s in front of me right now.”

Be patient with yourself. When you’re lost, the loudest voice is often self-criticism. Ask for patience with your process.

The kind that lets learning take time and allows for the inevitable mistakes.

A simple ask ” help me move forward at a pace I can live with.”

Trust that questions are not failure.

Judaism doesn’t require certainty to stay in relationship with Hashem.

Trust that questioning, doubting, and wrestling are all still forms of connection. After all, the word “Israel” means “wrestles with G-d.”

A simple ask, ” help me stay connected even when I’m unsure.” You don’t have to Daven perfectly, you just have to pray honestly. And if you like this, follow for more.
